Bruce Lee: Dragon Warrior in training for iPhone, looks awesome

The news that Street Fighter IV is coming to iPhone got the beat-'em-up fans (such as myself) excited enough to shriek like a little girl and jump up and down. In a very manly way, of course.

It looks like the 3D fighting genre is finally getting underway on the iPhone as Digital Legends prepares its IMGA entry Bruce Lee: Dragon Warrior for combat.

This fully 3D tournament fighter is apparently based around the events of Bruce Lee's life, and will include a variety of fighting styles and opponents, with the ability to unlock new moves and develop your own techniques.

The motion-captured animations are utterly breathtaking, but when you realise Bruce Lee: Dragon Warrior is coming from the same team that made the awesome N-Gage fighting extravaganza ONE and epic iPhone hack 'n' slash Kroll, it's easy to see how this is likely to set a new benchmark in iPhone beat-'em-ups.

The game is a joint venture with Indiagames, which owns the Bruce Lee mobile license, and has apparently received the seal of approval from the Bruce Lee Foundation, chaired by Lee's wife Linda and daughter Shannon.

Bruce Lee: Dragon Warrior also just took the People's Choice Award at the IMGA, so this looks set to be a serious iPhone hit, and we've even heard rumours of it coming to other smartphone platforms such as Android and Bada, with a Java version heading for Nokia's Ovi Store. Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
