de Blob to paint the iPad red?

More colourful, amorphous games on the THQ palette

de Blob to paint the iPad red?

THQ has just announced that it's made a profit for the first time in over a year, and the company has celebrated by realigning its studios to focus more on the digitally distributed platforms like iPhone, iPad, and Xbox Live Arcade (and, less positively, by shedding a further 60 jobs).

According to Joystiq, CEO Brian Farrell explained during an investor conference call that we should expect more from THQ's colourful, amorphous hero de Blob in fiscal year 2011 (which begins in April 2010, so he means this year, we suspect).

THQ has been veering away from Nintendo consoles ever since it scrapped a DS version of de Blob, and considering there's already an iPhone game (and mobile and Android, for that matter, so the phones are covered), it seems likely that the paint-splashing puzzle game will mark one of the company's first forays onto the Apple iPad.

Nothing official has been confirmed as yet, but de Blob iPad would be a pretty sweet game, I reckon.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
