According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, EA will have a big presence at Apple's reveal on the 27th of January - the fabled event when Apple will reveal its hugely-hyped tablet computer.

The Journal says, "Apple is also working with videogame publisher Electronic Arts Inc. to show off the tablet's game capabilities."

Considering the support EA has shown the iPhone and iPod touch, it makes sense that the game development giant would be involved. EA has, after all, put some of its biggest franchises onto the App Store in the form of FIFA, Madden and The Sims.

With that in mind, we expect to see these franchises make it to the new tablet device, as they should be relatively easy to port. How about a new Sims game utilising the iSlate's capabilities, or a large screen version of Command & Conquer?

At the least the news is further confirmation of the game development side of the device - something that SGN let slip.

Of course, we'd also expect the likes of Gameloft, PopCap, Digital Chocolate and Freeverse to be quick to announce support.

Maybe console companies such as Activision and Ubisoft will also take the opportunity to strengthen their support for gaming on Apple handware.
