Official Oktoberfest beer drinking game coming to iPhone
Der is eine freuline on mein wiener schnitzel |
The problem with October is that it's nearly Bonfire Night, and when it's Bonfire Night, it's practically Christmas - the most magical, chore-packed, commercial time of the year.
But the Germans have found the perfect way to fend off those October (and late September - ed) blues: Oktoberfest! The world famous beer festival takes place in Munich every year, with drinkers from around the world coming together in brotherly (and sisterly) harmony to get hammered and eat snorkers till they puke.
For those of us who can't get there for some wonderfully entertaining liver abuse, the city of Munich is sponsoring an official iPhone Oktoberfest game, which will allow you to indulge in the popular pub sports associated with the festival.
Activities like finger-wrestling (Fingerhakeln), High-Striker, Schuhplattler, conducting the oompah band in the beer tent, riding the ghost train, waitressing in a beer tent are all included, along with a quiz about Bavaria, Munich and the Oktoberfest.
Take this game along to your local Wetherspoons and there's no need to travel all that way, getting laughed at in the airport for wearing lederhosen and having a big, bushy, handlebar moustache poking out over a stein.
Oktoberfest - The Official Game will be available in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and of course German, and should be with us on the App Store shortly..
Come to think of it, Pocket Gamer's community manager Fraser lives in Munich (despite being some kind of Scotsman), so perhaps we'll try and persuade him to stop by the Oktoberfest (in an official capacity, of course) to check the authenticity of the iPhone game.

Exactly! It's like alcoholism without the annoying interventions.

Hi,
you can also try iYodl, this app helps you to say things in bavarian language. For example you can order a beer at the Oktoberfest.
