 PSP PREVIEW

G’day to the fighting 'roo

From Poland comes the PSP debut of Kao Kangaroo

Product: Kao Challengers | Developer: Tate Interactive | Publisher: Atari | Genre: Adventure, Platform
You might think that there's something geographically odd about a Polish developer creating a game based around a famously Australian mammal, but Tate Interactive is continuing its work on all things antipodean with the PSP debut of Kao Kangaroo. Called Kao Challengers, the game sees Kao and his boxing gloves back in full force and with extra biffing multiplayer action added.

But to the single player action, where Kao performs a mixture of platforming acrobatics and action moves as he attempts to save the animal world from malevolent hunter Barnaba and his band of henchmen. Thankfully, you'll have the support of your friends, the firefly and parrot, as well as Kao's range of kangaroo-style attacks, including a wicked tail whip and the boomerang throw. You'll also get to use plenty of vehicles and other transport options as you move through the 25 levels set across six environments with a snowboard, catapult, pelican, water barrel and motorboat making up the interesting selection.

And that's without mentioning the four-way multiplayer mode. These include deathmatch battles with 15 less-than-kangaroo-friendly weapons such as the fire flamer, energy suck magneto, and auto missiles. For the less aggressive, there are also racing-based multiplayer modes in which you get to use the various vehicles from the single-player game.
