The boffins over at Android Community wasted no time running benchmarks on the newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy S III and the results are nothing short of impressive.

The tests put the Galaxy S III's Exynos 1.4GHz processor through its paces using Quadrant Advanced. The benchmark scores clocked in at an average of 5642 (on one occasion surpassing 5700).

These results leave much of the current Android competition well behind, as the HTC One X scored 4900 for the dual-core and 4800 for the Tegra 3 (quad-core).

While more testing is required to see what the Galaxy S III is fully capable of, these initial results are quite promising for those hoping for a Samsung powerhouse.
