Madfinger Games has given Pocket Gamer details of the first planned multiplayer update for the studio's eye-catching Gears of War-esque shooter Shadowgun.

The team is planning to roll out the multiplayer update in several steps, starting with the introduction of traditional game modes like Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, before then going on to more elaborate game types at a later date.

It's also planning for the multiplayer to be cross-platform between both Android and iOS, so those with friends from all walks of mobile life (except Windows Phone and bada, of course) can get stuck into the third-person action.

No release date has been scheduled just yet, as the team is working on ironing out a few bugs first, but we'll bring you news of its planned date when we get it.

If you haven't already checked out Shadowgun, then you should. In our review we called it, "the best third-person action game on mobiles".

It's available now on the App Store for £5.49/$7.99. Click the handy iTunes button to download it.
