Full details of the Top Gear mobile game race in

BBC's petrolhead programme roars onto phones

Product: Top Gear: The Mobile Game | Developer: Gameloft | Publisher: Gameloft | Genre: Racing

Look away now if Jeremy Clarkson's ongoing popularity has left you baffled. He's now popping up on your mobile phone, in the first official Top Gear game.

What's more, publisher Gameloft is promising it's much more than just a racing game.

So although you'll be able to race a power lap against The Stig and test your skills on courses in Africa, Wales and Iceland, there's some typically off-the-wall challenges, too.

Such as? Well, you'll be able to race against an Apache helicopter, play darts with a caravan, or even play the justifiably-renowned game of car football.

Oh, and the ace-sounding 'bendy-bus-rocket launch', which sounds like it should get Boris Johnson's seal of approval.

Clarkson himself appears in the game with his "irreverent, witty sense of humour", but we'll let that pass for now.

The game will also have eight licensed cars to try out, including supercars like the Audi R8 and Aston Martin DBS, through to family car the BMW 135i.

And of course there's a reasonably priced car or two, including the Chevrolet Lacetti.

In recent years, Top Gear has reinvented itself, becoming a huge global brand and attracting an audience far beyond its previous fanbase of petrolheads.

The new mobile game has sensibly focused on that, and sounds like it'll have just as wide an appeal as its TV parent.
