Known primarily for its free Flash games portal, Miniclip is moving aggressively into the mobile space.

But while rival Kongregate has famously chosen Android, Minclip seems to be making a success of the App Store, both in terms of free and paid games.

Most recently, it had the top three positions on the US iPhone free game chart with ad-supported and IAP versions of its Fragger, Ping Pong and Gravity Guy games.

At one point, it was doing around 900,000 downloads daily.

Big day coming

To-date, the company says it's done over 15 million downloads, with the 99c version of Fragger selling 1.25 million units, with the Monster Trucks Nitro franchise co-owned with developer Red Lynx selling a further million.

"We are thrilled to have topped the App Charts again such a short time after opening our new division," said Antonio Sergio Varanda, director of the Mobile Division at Miniclip.

"It's great to know that our users are enjoying our games, and we hope that Miniclip becomes their primary destination for games in the future. In the past six months we have launched a wide range of games into the App Store and we have an exciting release schedule planned for 2011."
