Midnight Pool cues up for iPhone release

Gameloft is on fire this week (not literally). Alongside the adaptation of Guitar Rock Tour for iPhone, we're also being given a port of its popular Midnight Pool franchise (click 'Buy It!' for a direct link).

The game takes you on a tour of seven 'welcoming' American bars as you hustle your way through a pool tournament. Seven equally colourful all-'Mercan characters are standing by to represent your digital self on the felt fairway (looking at the screenshots, it's nice to see a couple of the Village People getting some work), and a two-player mode gives you the chance to show off your ball and cushion skills in person.

The touchscreen will apparently provide the bulk of the controls, requiring you to aim and shoot with a slide and flick of the finger. Reviews are mixed on the App Store right now, but hit the 'Track It!' button to catch our Midnight Pool shakedown as soon as it's ready.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
