Updated at 9:24pm GMT - Renegade Kid emailed us back with the following, "Yes, we intend to bring Moon Chronicles to Europe. We do not have any firm release dates for either territory yet." The original story follows.

Nintendo's 3DS is set to receive a fresh infusion of tasty first-person shooter gameplay thanks to the minds at Renegade Kid.

The studio behind Mutant Mudds has announced that it's planning a 3DS remake of its Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning FPS, Moon.

IGN reports that the new game - Moon Chronicles - will run at a reported 60 frames per second in both 2D and 3D modes, and will take advantage of the 3DS / 3DS XL's larger top screen.

And yes, Sir Frags-a-lot, it'll also offer support for the Circle Pad Pro so you can get a proper twin-stick experience with it.

Renegade Kid is planning an episodic release of Moon Chronicles on the eShop, with the first four-chapter episode hitting this spring at $8.99 (~£5.99).

Chapters 2 and 3 will also contain four missions and will be available as DLC for $1.99 (~£1.49). Chapter 4 is the real bargain, however, as it consists of six missions and costs the same as the first two DLC packs.

Renegade Kid hopes to launch an all-new second season of Moon Chronicles next year, assuming that the first outing finds success on the eShop. The second season's content will be set years after Moon’s storyline.

There's no word yet on a UK/EU release, but we've reached out to Renegade Kid to see what its international plans are.

We'll update you as soon as we hear back.
