Sony has confirmed that its recently announced PS Vita TV gizmo will be able to stream PS3 games courtesy of its streaming service Gaikai.

Speaking to Eurogamer at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony worldwide studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said: "We'd like to offer a variety of games because the fun of server-based services like Netflix is you just want to browse through."

"Like movies, you can start to watch five minutes and if you're bored you can move on to something else. [Also,] we have to make sure the games work through the internet. We have to go through certification for each title. So we'll start with a selection and then work from there."

Unfortunately, Sony still hasn't confirmed whether it will launch its PS Vita TV device in Europe, or when PS3 streaming will make its way across.

But every cloud has a silver lining. Back when Sony unveiled PS Vita TV, Yoshida took to Twitter to help calm things: "We are just saying, PS Vita TV releasing first in Japan."
