Alpaca Evolution is the strangest game you're going to play all week

| Alpaca Evolution

My alpaca is a hideous freak. Its six limbs are made up of horrible bulging muscles that make it look like something out of Clive Barker's nightmares.

This is Alpaca Evolution.

And it is mad.

Mutant mayhem

With a tap, I smash into a normal alpaca, crushing the life out of it with a poorly animated flail of my extra appendages.

With another tap, I stuff the corpse of my fallen herd-mate into my torso, melding its flesh into my own in order to become something more, something better.

The XP bar in the corner of the screen goes up a little and I edge closer to my next mutation.

Hundreds more will die before I reach the next stage of alpaca mutation. Hundreds more will involuntarily 'surrender' their own flesh to become part of a rippling super-beast.

This is mobile madness, a twisted vision of nature gone insane wrapped in a cute and repetitive game that, for some reason, has been downloaded more than 5 million times in Japan.

There's no challenge to it, and seemingly no reason to push on save for getting to see what disturbing alpaca monstrosity you evolve into next.

To help you out on that front, an in-game encyclopedia explains each of your new forms in bizarre detail, rating your strength and giving you a bunch of useless vital statistics.

Form factor

Playing Cocosola's Alpaca Evolution is like staring into the abyss and seeing a thousand connected alpaca faces stare back at you, all full of curious innocence.

Cocosola's other games include Sheepy Spongy, which is about dropping apples on sheep in order to shear them.

Anyway. You can grab Alpaca Evolution from the Google Play Store right now for nothing at all. And you probably should, because it's bonkers.
