After Tetris Blitz's brief stint on the Canadian App Store, EA has launched its free-to-play block-dropping puzzler worldwide.

In this iOS and Android game, you try to clear as many Tetris lines as possible in a two-minute sprint. You'll also try to cause chain reactions as orphaned blocks cascade into new lines.

Plus, you can use power-ups like Magnet, Laser, and Time Shift. Some of these boosts are free, and some cost money. EA says a new power-up will be released every week.

In our hands-on preview of Tetris Blitz, we said that "it's fast paced and scrappy, and anticipating chains and clearing enormous chunks of the board is as fun as ever. Frenzy mode - which gives you a handful of rows with just one spot missing - is very satisfying."

"And the controls, surprisingly, make Blitz run faster than its button-based cousins. This touch-friendly version draws your possible drop spots as ghostly white outlines which, when tapped, instantly send your block there."

Since our preview earlier this month, some of the more absurdly priced in-app purchases are, thankfully, no longer quite as expensive as they were.

Previously, you would have had to fork out $30 to see the next three Tetriminos. Now, however, it'll just cost you £1.99 / $2.99. If you wanted to hold two blocks, by the way, you would have previously had to pay $40. Now, it'll cost you £2.99 / $4.99.

Tetris Blitz is available on iOS and Android worldwide right this second. It's free, and - despite its overbearing in-app purchases and Facebook-only social features- is well worth a bash.
