Upcoming Final Fantasy X-2 HD remake may not include The Last Mission
Towering disappointment
We've known for some time that the upcoming HD remaster of Final Fantasy X-2 would be an entirely separate game for the Vita - but we didn't know how different from the original release it would actually be.
This is because there are two versions of X-2: the one that Europeans and Americans received, and a special International Version which - despite its title - was never released outside of Japan.
Final Fantasy X-2: International + Last Mission included three new dress spheres (Bare, Psychic, and Festivalist), along with a new Creature Create mode, and a massive final dungeon dubbed "The Last Mission".
The Last Mission was never translated into English, however, and Silcionera reports that Square Enix is still "undecided" as to whether it will make its way into Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster.
One more goThe Last Mission is more than just a simple dungeon crawl - it's a playable epilogue that takes place three months after the final boss of X-2 is defeated.
As players slog up the 80-floor tower of The Last Mission, they face four grueling boss fights and are rewarded with eight cut scenes where Yuna, Rikku, and Paine discuss current events in Spira that include the fate of many of X-2's NPCs.
In short, it's everything that fans of Final Fantasy X-2 would want. Here's to hoping The Last Mission makes its way to the west - even if we have to pay extra to download it.
