Is it just us or are a lot of boxing games carbon copies of one another these days?

If, like I, you're tired of jumping into the ring as Floyd Mayweather or Muhammad Ali, you may want to check out Monkey Boxing.

As its name suggests, this is a boxing game full of banana-loving simians.

You begin Monkey Boxing by choosing and customising your very own ape through "billions" of combinations of colours and wearable props like Viking helmets, sunglasses, and face masks.

Once you've made your little scamp all pretty, you can step into the ring and compete against a range of poop-throwing opponents for fame, fortune, and a shiny trophy.

Of course, you can challenge real-world primate pugilists, too.

You can either compete against them for high scores on Game Center leaderboards, or go toe-to-toe with them in a fierce multiplayer battle on a single device.

Monkey Boxing has just landed on the New Zealand App Store, which - as always - means it'll be available in the UK and US from around midnight this evening. It'll be priced £1.99 / $2.99.
