Gold Award-winning footy sim New Star Soccer successfully fought off advances from the likes of Forza Horizon to pick up the award for Best Sports / Fitness game at this year's BAFTA Games Awards.

"It's been an absolutely massive honour for me," Simon Read, the game's creator, said in his (probably) first post-match interview.

"I was already overwhelmed by the amazing reaction to New Star Soccer when it released last year, but to go from working on my own at home to accepting an award from BAFTA is an incredible feeling."

"As New Star Soccer continues to gain this kind of phenomenal acknowledgement it makes me incredibly excited for the game's future and the ways in which I can further expand it going forward," Read concluded.

Yes, you read that right. Read is going to update his BAFTA-winning app with a couple of new features and some extra content.

Specific details are a little scarce, but we do know that new NRG drinks, fresh boots, and even headers will be making their way into New Star Soccer later this year.

If you've yet to play Read's sublime soccer sim, we suggest you check it out. You can download it for free from the App Store [download], and grab it from Google Play [download] for £1.99.
