[Updated] The Simpsons: Tapped Out taps onto Android global, should see North American release soon

Updated on February 7th, at 15:48:
The Simpsons: Tapped Out is now available to download on Android in North America.

Enjoy.

Already well into its 24th season, Fox's satirical animated sitcom The Simpsons has made innumerable contributions to global pop culture as we know it.

Its contributions to the world of smartphone and tablet gaming, however, have been limited to an arcade brawler from 2009 and a freemium city builder - The Simpsons: Tapped Out - which came to iOS last year.

Neither of these games have appeared on Google Play to date, but that's changing thanks to EA's decision to release The Simpsons: Tapped Out onto Android globally.

Best. Port. Ever.

Android Police reports that The Simpsons: Tapped Out has rolled out to EA's "Rest of the World" region which means it's available most everywhere except North America.

Interestingly, however, they also report that Android users across the world are being denied access to the game and cannot actually download it from the Google Play Store.

Hopefully this will change soon - it'd be a shame if Android gamers couldn't choo-choo-choose to spend Valentine's Day building up the Springfield of their dreams.
