Tackle the Scarescraper in newly revealed Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon multiplayer mode

Nintendo has revealed that upcoming spook-sucking sequel Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon will let you connect with your friends and team up to form your very own virtual ghost-busting squad.

This multiplayer element won't just be a lazy bolt-on to the main campaign, though.

Nope, in this co-op multiplayer component - which supports up to four players locally or online - you and your buddies will attempt to clear spectres out of the intimidatingly named Scarescraper.

Working against the clock in Hunter mode, team members must co-ordinate their efforts to clear each floor of ghosts until the building is empty.

As this is Luigi's Mansion, each player will take control of a differently coloured Luigi for the hunt. If one team member dies, another member can race over and bring his doppelgänger back from the dead.

We're now picturing a bizarre canned animation in which Luigi gives himself the kiss of life. We wish we hadn't.

In Hunter mode, you will also be given the option to set the number of floors per game - 5, 10, or 25 - depending on how long you want the match to last.

Plus, if the spooks are too aggressive (or too docile), you can tweak the game's difficulty to suit your team's skill level.

I want it now

Unfortunately, we still have to wait until March 24th before we can get our hands on Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

In the meantime, you'll just have to make do with watching the Hunter mode trailer (above) on repeat.
