Quirky fishing sim Let's Fish! Hooked on nibbles at a January release date

Many great RPGs have featured fishing minigames, but few fishing games have featured roleplaying elements.

The upcoming fishing simulator Let's Fish! Hooked on is looking to change this with a character-driven storyline that allows players to follow the progress of four amateur anglers looking to win a spot in the prestigious World Tour.

Yet despite the focus on character, Let's Fish! Hooked on is, at its heart, a fishing simulator and it will make use of the Vita's multiple inputs to provide a unique and challenging fishing experience.

Hook, line, and sinker

Gameplay for Let's Fish! Hooked on is split between four modes. The first, World Tour, follows the story of each of the game's four main characters (Jamie, Ryuji, Kano, and Ai) in a tournament-based campaign.

Those looking for faster fishing fun will enjoy the Challenge Mode which allows for free-standing fishing action without the story content surrounding it.

Training Mode allows players to sharpen their skills, while Underwater Mode allows them to view their trophy catches in an aquarium-like environment.

A post on The PlayStation Blog confirms that Let's Fish! Hooked on will be available on January 29 for North America and January 30 for Europe via the PSN for $19.99 / £13.99. There is no physical release planned.
