Lego's new Legends of Chima games will come to 3DS and Vita this summer, iOS this week

Never one to rest on its bricks, Lego started off 2013 by announcing that it would bring a new game to 3DS, Vita, and DS owners later this year.

The game in question, Lego Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey, isn't a crossover based on a hit movie, cartoon, or other established intellectual property. Instead, it's based on Lego's new Legends of Chima line of models which is set to launch in 2013.

According to Lego's website, Chima is a fictional magical world where anthropomorphic animals fight for dominance in a bizarre mash-up of Narnia mythology with some strong Thundercats overtones.

Spin-offs, ho!

Joystiq reports that Lego Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey is one of three games that will come from the new franchise this year.

A companion racing mini-game, Lego Legends of Chima: Speedorz, will launch for iOS on Thursday, January 3. The third and final game, Lego Legends of Chima Online, is a free-to-play online game that will allow players to build structures and interact with other Chima characters on missions and is due for a launch in the fall.

Lego Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey is expected for the 3DS and Vita in the summer of 2013 and will be available for the DS in the autumn.
