The Simpsons: Tapped Out shows some festive cheer in Christmas update

In a move as predictable as Christmas itself, EA has decided to add some seasonal merriment to The Simpsons: Tapped Out in the form of a fresh batch of content.

New decorations have been added allowing you to spruce Springfield up all merry like, including Christmas lights and trees.

Unfortunately, what with Father Christmas being a notoriously stingy grump, you'll have to collect Santa coins in order to get hold of them.

The update doesn't just add a few extra baubles, though. There are new characters and buildings also waiting to be unwrapped. The Bowl-a-rama and the Try-N-Save store have both been added, along with Santa's Village as a concession to the whole 'Christmas' thing.

When it comes to characters, Homer can now go on flying sleigh rides and Sideshow Mel is waiting to be fired from a cannon. That's two of my favourite Yuletide traditions covered, then.

Most excitingly, though, you can now 'go on a binge with Barney'. Presumably he'll be drinking sherry and eggnog rather than Duff.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out is available for free on iOS.
