First screenshots for GTA: Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition released

While the world waits for the next Grand Theft Auto V screenshot to materialise and turn net denizens into panting, wolf-whistling approval machines, Rockstar has teased some new images for another incoming GTA title.

That's right, folks: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition is set to race onto your mobile devices this Thursday, and we have the pictures to prove it.

According to Rockstar, these screenshots highlight some of the bells and whistles which have been added to the original build.

These improvements include swanky new lighting effects and more detailed character models.

It's not just the visuals which have been tweaked, mind - gameplay has been fine-tuned, too. In the blurb which accompanies these new screenshots, The Big R promises customisable control settings and "new and more precise firing options".

Given the persistent iffiness of the lock-on mechanic in GTA titles, I will believe this claim when I have the game in my sights.

Going on screens alone, though, it's fair to say that Vice City has never looked so good.

And given the surprising playability of the GTA 3 mobile port, we'd wager there's a decent-sized audience ready to throw some Phil Collins on the stereo and give Rockstar's neon-drenched classic another spin.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City be available for iOS and Android this Thursday for £2.99 / $4.99. Throw on your gaudiest Hawaiian shirt, grab your Uzi, and we'll see you on the strip.
