There's a single big, big release this week for the PS Vita on the PlayStation Store - and it's one that you're going to want to steer extremely clear of.

Fortunately, there are some decent DLC and PS Mobile games available on the Store this week to soothe the pain. Nothing too incredible, but, hey, it's something, right?

Let's get straight to it, then. Just try not to get too excited. You'll only feel let down afterwards.

Full-price releases

This week, the maiden Call of Duty title for PS Vita, Black Ops - Declassified, blasted onto the PS Store with all guns blazing. Well, some guns blazing.

You might be excited by the above news. You should not be.

As we discovered to our great cost on Tuesday, the game is "A passionless take on a great licence", and features an "almost totally broken multiplayer". Ouch. Definitely give this one a wide berth, especially considering the £44.99 / $49.99 asking price.

Americans! You have another full-price app to look forward to! It's called Colors! It's a painting app that lets you draw stuff. Pretty stuff! Hand over $6.99, and it's yours.

Moving swiftly on, you'll be delighted to read that there's plenty of new DLC for Vita in the PS Store this week.

The wonderful New Little King's Story has a bunch of new clothing sets available for less than £2 / $2 each, while another new set in Pure Chess gives you a taste of Easter Island. That'll - ahem - set you back £1.59 / $2.49.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz players will find some free - yes, free! - DLC in the form of Hard and Professional level packs. We likey. Furthermore, there's some fresh Zen Pinball DLC, too. You can add the Fantastic Four machine to your collection for £2.39 / $2.99.

Oh, and Americans can expect to see Street Fighter X Tekken DLC in their shop, too. The two "Color Palette" packs are free (and utterly dull), while the Shared Assist Gem Pack 5 (which gives you 10 gems to help you get the edge in battle) will cost you $2.99.

Hang on... is that a pay-to-win in-app purchase in my fighting game?! Ewwwwww.

PlayStation Mobile releases

The PS Mobile offerings are rather more interesting this week than the main releases. Who'd have thunk it?!

First off, there's the original Amiga game Alien Breed for £3.19. It's by Team17 (of Worms) fame, and sees you gunning down aliens from a top-down view.

This Vita edition contains the original classic version, plus an enhanced mode, with slightly better visuals and audios. Oh, and eight new levels.

Alongside that, you've got Panic!, a game all about destroying a city to allow sludge to trickle through and miss the citizens on its way to the sewer.

I played this at Gamescom in the summer, and it wasn't half bad. For £1.59, it's definitely worth a pop.

PSP and PSone Classics

'No new PSP or Classics releases, at all,' you say, Mr Sony? At all?!? Dang.

Ah. This is awkward. Now, I'm going to have to find some way to fill up this section without your realizing.

Did you see the PlayStation Mobile releases up there? Pretty neat, yeah? Yeah.

Right, well, that's your lot for this week. Let's hope next week is more fruitful. Laters!
