Horror-tastic Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir heading to 3DS on July 29th
Don't blink
If there's one survival-horror franchise that deserves an HD reworking or just simply another entry, it's the excellent Project Zero / Fatal Frame series of games.
While that's unlikely to happen any time soon, 3DS-owning fans of scary games should mark July 29th in their calendars, for that's when Tecmo Koei will be releasing Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir into the European wilds.
The game, a spiritual successor to the Fatal Frame series, transforms the 3DS's camera into the fabled "Camera Obscura": a camera that can detect and destroy ghastly spirits lurking in the everyday world.
Instead of fighting against ghosts in a nightmarish Japanese village, as in Fatal Frame, you do battle with spectres in Spirit Camera that exist in the real world - sneaking up behind you and warping through walls to claw at your face.
Terrifying prospectSpirit Camera comes with a full Story mode supported by a separate AR book called the Purple Diary, as well as a Challenge mode that sees you face off against the various nasties you'll encounter in the main game.
It'll be interesting to see just how effectively Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir can deliver the scares - AR games so far have hardly been the most terrifying titles around.
We'll no doubt find out (from behind the sofa) when the game launches on July 29th.
