New details and screenshots surface for upcoming Let's Fish! Hooked On

It's been slim fishing for ace anglers on the PS Vita, but that's going to change with the upcoming release of Let's Fish! Hooked On, the first full-scale fishing game for the handheld.

We reported on Let's Fish! Hooked On back in August when news of the European and North American localizations were announced, but now we have some new details and images on the hook.

To begin with, the anime-styled artwork for the game was done by Akio Watanabe (aka Poyoyon Rock) who has contributed character design work for the popular animes Popotan and The World God Only Knows.

Outside of the gorgeous artwork, there's plenty of meat in the story-driven Let's Fish! Hooked On for Vita owners to be excited about.

Gameplay will be split between four modes: World Tour (storyline), Training, Challenge, and Underwater. Each of the four modes will make use of the Vita's impressive suite of input options and will focus on a different style of play.

In 'World Tour', players will have the option to experience the game's storyline from the perspective of one of four main characters each with their own unique skills and abilities.

'Training' allows players to hone their skills, while 'Challenge' provides quick, episodic bursts of fishing gameplay with competition taking place in the form of weekly online rankings. In 'Underwater', players can view their prized catches in their natural habitats.

Wired Productions intimated that a release date for Let's Fish! Hooked On should be coming in the weeks ahead. We will keep you updated with any additional information when it nibbles on our line.
