THQ's Kung Fu Panda 2: Be The Master for iPhone 'bears' a resemblance to Doodle Jump and Fruit Ninja

‘Awesome’ app hits UK store at midnight for 59p/99c

Dreamworks’s Kung Fu Panda might not be Pixar-quality, but assuming you can tolerate Jack Black’s schtick it’s one of the better animated movies released in recent years. The sequel’s due out in a week, and so naturally it’s just about the right time for an iOS tie-in.

Kung Fu Panda 2: Be The Master has just landed on the New Zealand App Store, and it'll be high-kicking onto the UK store at around midnight. It’s essentially a mini-game collection, though it very much tests the definition of ‘collection’, with just two different game types featured.

First up is Paws of Power, which asks you to slice through flying training dummies while avoiding the bee hives that sporadically pop up - and bears a slight resemblance to a certain fruit-cutting iOS title.

Feet of Fury, meanwhile, asks you to reach the top of the Waterfall of Agony by jumping on various objects to aid your ascent. Like Doodle Jump.

Two more scrolls are on the way via an update. We’re assuming THQ won’t be following the film’s plot too closely, as there are 1,000 scrolls to be learned before Po can achieve his new title.

There are the usual leaderboards and achievements, while collectible figurines are the unlockable treats for high scorers. Kung Fu Panda: Be The Master will set you back 99c/59p.
