The landmark update to Apple's mobile operating system is now here. The iOS 7 update is available to download, either on your device or through iTunes.

The update will give your gizmo a daring new design, improve old features like Siri and multitasking, and add new stuff like controller support, AirDrop, and a control centre.

If you want to get the update, your first move should be to backup your device. You wouldn't want to lose everything if something went wrong, would you?

If you're using iCloud, simply plug your device into a power socket and hit "Back Up Now" from the iCloud settings on your phone or tablet. Or, plug it into your PC or Mac and back up the device using iTunes.

When you're all done, open the Settings app, go into general, and hit software update. Your phone will take it from there. If you'd rather use your computer, just plug your device in, open iTunes, and hit update.

iOS 7 is compatible with iPhone 4 and above, the fifth generation iPod touch, iPad 2 and above, and iPad mini. Certain features may be limited to certain devices. See more on that at the bottom of this page.
