Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery cheats and tips - Everything you need for a painless experience
A troll in the dungeon
Yes witches and wizards, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has finally landed and we are all overjoyed. Simply, overjoyed. Enamoured. The game looks great, and lets us step into Hogwarts as ourselves.
Only, you need a lot of energy. Lessons can be long. Conversations can be long. And don't get me started on bullies, ugh, they need teaching a lesson. And not a lesson about spells. Unless those spells are somehow offensive. Then maybe a spell lesson. An aggressive one.
Whether you're a prodigy like Harry or a genius like Hermoine, you're sure to find something in this guide that'll help you master your time at Hogwarts.
The tap master
Hell yeah, we're gonna tap that screen until we make progress. Professor Snape has never seen such a talented pupil, mark my words.
As you progress through the game, icons will indicate where you should go, and you can tap through the glowing exclamation marks and such to teleport between important locations and get through conversations.
Just tap away at them all. You'll often have small objectives that require multiple taps, so… yeah. Tap the icon multiple times to achieve it. It'll use energy, but it must be done regardless.
On the circleThere's only one section in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery that truly demands a degree of precision and timing, and that's in these circle matching sections.
It's actually pretty simple, just tap when the circle hits the centre of the screen, right?
Well, yes, but I blitzed past it too quickly once or twice due to fervent tapping, so take it slow and get these perfect.
Growing upWhen you progress through the game, gain levels and increase your stats, you can choose from a few rewards.
Now, easily the most tempting is the Gem, the premium currency. It's probably the most worthwhile option, even though the Energy is used so often. So we'd choose the gem.
In other instance when completing lessons you can choose points to go towards your attributes. It might seem obvious, but here you should pick whichever will either give you the most points, or level up the attribute which needs the most attention.
Stand your ground
Don't let anyone push you around. Let me tell you, school is rough. I mean sure, private school Hogwarts isn't an inner city London school by any stretch of the imagination, but that doesn't mean you should let anyone boss you about.
If you get a Malfoy of your own, make sure to stand your ground and, heck, rat them in whenever the teacher swings by. You owe them nothing, after all.
Honesty is often the best policy, and not being an upstanding student might get you docked House Points. Though that certainly doesn't mean you should back down when confronted. It doesn't mean get rude, but put your foot down.
Go do something else
You will need energy to play this game, and frankly, it's expensive. You don't want to pay up, I don't want to make you pay up, so what's the solution?
Press your device's home button, and then put your device down and go do something else.
Try using your web browser to look at PocketGamer.co.uk, for example. I hear that's quite popular.
