The dual analogue stick shooter is every bit as important a gaming invention for the iPhone as line-drawing puzzles, and it's one of the few control methods that successfully replaces the need for physical buttons in an action game.

And they don't come much more action-packed than Chillingo's Guerrilla Bob.

We already took a look at the macho war machine's chaotic quest in our hands on preview, and now you can get your sweaty palms around Bob's mini-gun as the game just went live on the App Store.

Guerrilla Bob casts you as the eponymous mercenary as he fights through dangerous canyons, steep deserts, and dreadful towns, with a devastating arsenal of kick ass weaponry with which to wreak your own brand of iPhone destruction.

With an original soundtrack, full voice-overs and social interactivity through Crystal, Guerrilla Bob
looks like exactly the kind of rampant escapist mayhem that sees us through the long winter nights. Keep an eye out for our full review, coming soon.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
