Better second time around?

Ghosts'n Goblins Gold Knights 2 for iPhone out today

Last year, we reviewed the remake of 1985 arcade game Ghosts 'N Goblins: Gold Knights, and we found it to be, well, less than perfect.

Whilst hardcore fans of the original game were not to be deterred, there were problems including limited replayability, poor controls, and the level of difficulty.

However, Capcom seems to have reviewed these issues with Ghosts'n Goblins Gold Knights 2, which looks like a far sleeker, speedier, and easier to control sequel, with the D-pad being replaced by the analogue stick.

The main aim of the game is to control your knight as you traverse the Ghoul Realm, finding captured souls to rescue.

Whereas the original game for iPhone allowed you to play as either Arthur or Lancelot, in this sequel there’s a new character to play as Lancelot is replaced by Perceval, who has a 'dash' attack.

You can also still buy cheats to help you complete the game, should you need them.

Ghosts'n Goblins Gold Knights 2 is available from the App Store today at £2.99 / $4.99.
