Dragon Quest 9

What's happening with this game? It was surprisingly moved on to DS after the quality game DQ8 on PS2 but it all seems to have gone quiet. Not even heard word of the Japanese release. Interested to see if it can still be as great on the more limited DS platform.

Well the recent DS remake of Dragon Quest IV is pretty spiffing, which is a good sign. With a built-from-scratch game engine I have every confidence IX will up to scratch.

I had a go of Dragon Quest IX at Leipzig, but sadly it was all in German so I didn't really get the full benefit. It looked lovely though and the controls were much less cluttered than Chrono Trigger's were. As soon as we have an English version in our possession, we'll review it on the main site.
