FreeAppADay rolls out new revenue share business model

As we've been regularly noting since its January 2010 launch, the FreeAppADay website continues to propel games into the free game chart.

Its latest success story is physics-based game Chalkboard Stunts, which reached the #1 position over the weekend.

Now due to its position as the top discovery website for free games, FAAD's business model has matured, switching from an upfront lump sum to a revenue share model for the top quality games it looks to promote.

This works using a baseline of seven days of average sales prior to a campaign.

Additional revenue - generated either by in-app purchases, upselling, advertising etc - above this amount following the promotion is split between the website and game developer for the following month in the usual 70:30 ratio.

"Essentially the solution is a risk free for the developer. Our monetisation processes are so efficient that we can guarantee a substantial increase in revenue following a FAAD campaign," says founder Joe Bayen.

In addition, the website is branching out to general applications, with photo app Color Magic Deluxe reaching the #5 spot.

And longrunning stick-a-'tache on it app 'Stachetastic got promoted, got a bump, and was featured on Ellen Degeneres show for good measure too.
