informed newbie DS Mod question

Postby ian@dorm.org » Sun Jun 24, 2007 3:40 pm

Alright. Last night I was bitten by the DS Modding bug, and did a whole bunch of reading and youtube-watching about passkeys and whatnot. I was just wondering what the "best" system out there is... I was thinking about a Supercard DS(ONE), but I hear it has issues with savegames and will not play GBA games. So, I'm thinking about a Superkey and a Supercard Lite. With this combo, I'd have removable storage, be able to run MoonShell, DS Organize, various emulators and homebrews, as well as storing all of my DS games on the SD card so I never have to take anything extra with me, all without making a single permanant irreversable change to my DS.

Are there any drawbacks to using the SCL/SK? Is there a better system out there, or is this generally accepted as the best option that's least likely to make a brick out of your DS...?

I use an R4DS for homebrew and the such, and it works perfectly, I play Doom and Duke Nukem 3D on it, and roms for the games I own on a 1 gig microSD card, never had a problem with it.

Hi there, the R4 is good, I would avoid the DS Xtreme, which has terrbile firmware updates (meaning very very infrequent).

If I were to buy a slot 1 card now, I would probably go for the DS TT card, it supports SDHC, which has a much greater storage capacity than the R4 (actually it's made by the same people who made the R4 anyway).

Here's a link to a place that has them, http://www.clickshop.com/productinfo.php?pid=627
Although they're not in stock atm.
