Avatar won't load?

Postby TazUK » Wed Mar 26, 2008 5:32 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to add an Avatar to my Pocket Gamer profile but it won't load.

When I click 'Update Now' after selecting the file it simply re-displays the profile page.

I've tried 3 different files and two formats (jpg and bmp).

First make sure your avatar is under 1MB but really the smaller the better. Mine is only about 13k for example. Also try to keep it about 100 x 100 or even better 80 x 80, you can experiment a bit here to see which dimensions work but those are a pretty decent guide. As for format, jpg is always best really so be sure the file extension is correct and all that jazz.

If you have any more problems please let me know and I'll do my best to sort it for you.

Hi Fraser,

Nope, still doesn't work I have a 80x80 jpg file that is 3kb, but no joy. Here's a link to the file I'm trying to load.

I look forward to your reply,

Strange. I took your avatar and managed to get it onto my profile page. It showed up here when I posted this message so it's definitely acceptable to the system.

That said, when I clicked the Update Now button, I went to a page with a continue button. Did you get this?

Nope no continue button, it just goes straight back to the profile page when I click the Update Now button.

I'm trying it at work so am just wondering if it could be related to some sort corporate build OS lockdown, I'll try it at home later.

Could be something blocking you off. Can't say for sure what that would be though. Sorry :(

Hi Taz, as HiddenAway says, give it a try at home and let us know how you get on. If it still doesn't work, send me a note of what OS and browser you are using and I'll see if I can think of a reason why it wouldn't work.

We'll figure it out eventually :)
