What DSi Ware titles does the DSi need to kick things off?

Discuss Nintendo's camera-toting marvel here

What DSi Ware titles does the DSi need to kick things off?

Postby Fraser » Thu Apr 02, 2009 5:02 pm

The App Store has seriously got the jump on Nintendo's new service, but Nintendo has an intimidating history of past glories to plunder from. So what should be first out of the gates?

Clearly the DSi needs some Miyamoto magic here or at least a spot of the big franchises coded from someone else, i.e. a Mario/Zelda. The launch has been pretty low key (although Warioware is cool!)

It needs something like the Wii's virtual console - Nintendo should make older SNES an GBA games available to download. Digital distribution is all very well, but if all that's getting distributed is a few half-baked hacks then it's never really going to appeal

Definitely needs Nintendo's SNES (Super Metroid, Yoshi's Island, PilotWings, etc) and GBA content (Advance Wars, for instance). But following on from the Paper Plane release, one concept could be to bring out focused versions of past classics. That doesn't mean you have to dilute the experience, though - you could have a straightforward version of Tetris a la Game Boy (albeit with colour), for example.

I have to agree with OutRun. Some good ol' SNES classics and Game Boy Advance titles could really get DSiWare moving. Ultimately, some original stuff needs to hit the platform, but to get things started ports of some nostalgic favourites would be nice.

Let's keep things simple - Super Mario World (SNES) 3.99.

I'd buy it without thinking twice. I'd buy it without thinking full stop.

its not realy what dsiware nintendo needs but what changes need to be made to the system. in my opinion between a dsi and a psp i would go with a psp. the psp is way more compatibale whene it comes to music it has flah not the best but at least its something. and many more but anyway about the dsi the dsi could easaly win me over if some of these changes where made: add flash to the internet browser wich would enable youtube.com and many game sites. allow for file downloades like the psp. put the camara to use enable it to be used as a web cam put up some chat rooms make the damb home screen customisable. i mean damb add some more ram so i can go to a website without getting a message saying its to big. and ease up on all this damb blocking rubbish firmware.

A decent multiplayer Fantasy RPG would be a great start.
I'm amazed there already isn't one yet.
