Our favourite freebie resources

OK, we are going to let you in on our little black book of freebie bookmarks so that if you just can't wait until the next Friday Freebie, you have something to tide you over. We couldn't live without this lot but if there are any that any of you are harboring, do be nice and share them with us; recognition in the Friday Freebie and the knowledge that you have helped your fellow gamers will be your reward.

I occasionally go to this site for PSP themes. A few are slightly unsafe for work but go through and you'll eventually find a suitable theme.

Just spent a couple of hours going through the freebie archives and doing my own work for websites that are viewable and useful on the PSP. There weren't many but here's a quick list:

http://www.dailypspmovie.com/ - free PSP video to download every day, though I'm unsure as to how up-to-date it is.

http://www.onpsp.net/ - A PSP optimised site to store your bookmarks and go straight to your sites, though on hindsight, it's probably just as easy as going through the bookmarks on the PSP...

http://psp.podcast.com/1/ - Free downloadable podcasts (video and audio). Word of warning that when I tried it, downloads were very slow so I can't vouch for the video podcasts

http://www.pspoptimized.com/ - A list of PSP optimised websites for you to look around (including those found above). There is also:

http://ipodoptimized.com/ - A list of iPod optimised websites.

I would like to make my own one of these but haven't a clue where to start...

I think this was covered in the past but in case anyone missed it, the basic version (not the boxed version) of the PSP Media Manager is available for download. The installer is in Japanese but after that, the actual application is in English (or whatever language the OS is at I think): http://www.jp.playstation.com/store/med ... index.html

Finally, there's the ability to crteate you own themes here for free: http://uk.playstation.com/psp/news/arti ... -yourself/

Free Worms!

Postby Grayskull » Wed May 28, 2008 9:29 am

www.123play.com is awesome, ok, Worms (one of their games) is awesome, the site is great.

You have to click through two adverts before each play, but that takes about a second each and they target you based on your age and whether you're male or female so some of them are actually of interest, though I'm not sure why they feel the need to advertise ebay to me - haven't we all heard of ebay by now?

Anyway - the point is, if you view having to view adverts as a cost, not strictly free. Oh and if you pay for data on your package then there's a cost, but I think I worked out it cost me 30p to download Worms... had I had wireless internet at home I could have got it for nothing.
