Ok, probably a bit premature to go damning this handheld before it's even been seen in the flesh but hear me out.

The obvious integration option for the Zune HD is with Xbox Live Arcade. That would give the device a huge established pool of already released, critically acclaimed games at launch, with the promise of plenty more to come. The problem is that all of those games already released for Xbox Live Arcade have been designed for use with a control pad, not a touch screen, and herein lies the problem. I just don't see how a touchscreen console can reasonably accommodate all those games.

Unless Microsoft has something else planned for the device...

Yeah, I wondered that, too. A lot of the XBLA content is geared for a power house like the X360, obviously, and it's hard to believe Microsoft has managed to cram the guts of an X360 into something the size of an iPhone.

I can see how it could share video and audio content with the Xbox, and some of the games would migrate, but not that many. I guess there's nothing to stop Microsoft using the same network to deliver games to different systems, kind of like Sony does with the PS3 and PSP.

Also, I suppose there's every chance the Xbox 360 could play ZuneHD games, even if it doesn't work the other way around. It could even be planning a whole new series of games designed to work across both platforms. It's going to be very interesting to see how all this develops. Sony and Nintendo need to seriously catch up...
