Final Fantasy VII now available on Japanese PSN

Postby HiddenAway » Fri Apr 10, 2009 12:30 pm

The game most have been waiting for, Final Fantasy VII, made it's way to the PSP and PS3 stores in Japan at a price of about £10. The version that they have is an International version which is all in Japanese but features the tweaks on the US/European versions including additional cutscenes and better sorting of materia.

Now to wait for the European and US release...

I suppose you are getting an awful lot of game for your £8.

Still, I think what most FF VII fans really want is an enhanced/updated version of the game, not a mere port. That's certainly what I'm holding out for.

spoiler alert

at least it might be after crisis core's ending where the showed the completely redone opening sequence of ffvii we all thought it was ineveitable unless they are trying to milk us for as much as they can with the psx release and then force us to pay for a remake square enix are not ashamed of milking their fans

I only played Final Fantasy VII until about half way through on the original Playstation. Given the lip service the game has been granted since I've always felt like I short changed myself a bit. Maybe I'll finally get to finish it now - I hear the ending's pretty sad.

If you have ever purchased the game then using the ROM is not illegal. Simply hack your PSP and download the .ISO or .CSO file off of a torrent site, load it up and there you have it! - FF7 in all its original glory. Don't ask me how to hack your PSP! I'm out of that business for good.

Hmmm, I'm not entirely sure of the voracity of this statement I'm afraid Klouud. By using a torrent site in the first place you are uploading the ROM while you download it, meaning that you could be (and probably would be) unwittingly distributing copyrighted material to people who didn't buy the original game. At least, I'm pretty sure that's how the copyright holder would see it.

I think the only way you could legally use a copied ROM is if you copied the ROM yourself from your own, bought copy of the game and then only used it on your own devices. Otherwise there's undoubtedly a chance it could be construed as bootlegging in some form or another. To be honest, it's a minefield. If you are using copied anything, the copyright holder can usually find some element of legal wrongdoing. I'd steer clear, but then, I don't live very dangerously.
