New map, autosave and an improved arsenal

Fieldrunners due for a major update

Fieldrunners is pretty much leading the way when it comes to the iPhone’s tower defence games, but developer Subatomic Studios isn’t sitting back and luxuriating in success. The 1.2 update is currently going through Apple, and promises some pretty significant changes.

There’ll be a couple of system tweaks, such as faster loading times and an updated game icon, which are nice but will go mostly unnoticed by the war addicted gamer.

One new operational feature we do like the sound of is an autosave function, however, as clicking off the iPhone is a necessity too often required - especially when the boss catches you in the middle of a game.

We’ll also be getting some suped-up visuals in the form of fancier tesla tower animations, and a new flame tower and P47 Thunderbolt plane will help to keep the gameplay white hot.

On top of all this we’re getting a new map called the Drylands, set in a dried up canyon riverbed that will allow the Fieldrunners plenty of opportunities to leg it.

The update is due out any time now, and current Fieldrunners owners will receive it for free.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
