iOS 5 tips - How to add a custom word into your iOS dictionary

iOS 5 - the operating system feature bump for up-to-date iPhones, iPod touchs, and iPads - is now available to download, and it comes with about 200 or so nifty new features to enjoy.

My iPad has the annoying obsession with correcting Nintendo 3DS to Nintendo 3rd, no matter how many times I tell it that it's actually Nintendo's fifth major handheld. It just won't listen. So here's how to plop a word in your custom dictionary to ensure it'll always been accepted.

Hit Settings> General> Keyboard, and find shortcuts. Here you can make keyboard acronyms (like pg) turn into full words (like Pocket Gamer) to save time and effort. But you can also hijack this handy setting to enter custom words.

Simply type the word as a shortcut, and then the same word as the desired phrase, and you'll never be bugged by autocorrect ever again.
