With the dust just about settling on its Iron Man 3 smartphone game and its Despicable Me 2 companion game for mobile not due until the summer, Gameloft has decided - in collaboration with Fox - that it's high time for another smartphone movie tie-in game.

Yep, the prolific French developer and publisher is applying the finishing touches to its Epic: The Official Game fantasy romp for iOS and Android.

As in Blue Sky Studios's upcoming film, Epic: The Official Game will transport players to the secret world of Jinn and Boggans.

And as you might expect, you will be interacting with characters from the film in this tie-in game, and rebuilding the forest as they fight back against the Boggan blight.

Filled with vibrant colours and a cartoony look, the Epic: The Official Game trailer would lead us to suspect that Gameloft has a younger audience in mind here.

"We are thrilled to be working again with Fox Digital Entertainment and Blue Sky Studios to bring their latest animated adventure to smartphone and tablet gamers," Gonzague De Vallois, Gameloft's senior VP of publishing, said.

"The great success of our prior partnership, Ice Age Village, which has been downloaded over 50 million times to date, is a testament to the amazing animated worlds Blue Sky Studios creates, and that we are proud to bring to gamers."

While the Epic movie debuts stateside tomorrow and in the UK on May 22nd, Gameloft's companion game will go live on Google Play and the App Store later this month.

Instead, he preferred a succession of meaningless encounters with Japanese teenagers. Now, he is hooked.
