Endurance is a sci-fi horror RPG and prequel to hit indie Ailment
Heading to iOS and Android in June
Last year, solo developer Ivan Panasenko released his debut mobile game, Ailment, for iOS and Android. It quickly became an indie hit, amassing hundreds of thousands of downloads and being played by RPG fans the world over.
Its prequel, Endurance, was originally set to launch this month, but the decision was made to delay the game, giving Ivan extra time to hone the overall experience and add support for more languages.
Ailment was in many ways a fun throwback to sci-fi horror classics such as Alien and Event Horizon, but it also delivered its own brand of intense, top-down RPG action. Endurance looks to expand on its predecessor's success by delivering more guns, bigger hordes of enemies, and improved level variety.
Once again, it'll be a free-to-play title with a strong horror narrative and unnerving atmosphere. You might remember that Ailment eventually received a multiplayer mode after launch, and I hope that Endurance follows suit in this regard.
With it being a prequel, its story takes place prior to the original game's events. You'll go on a dangerous journey across the Endurance, a monster-filled spaceship, in the hopes of uncovering the truth behind a virus that spread rapidly through its crew. Along the way, you'll acquire new gear, take down challenging bosses, and perhaps even save the few remaining survivors.
If you enjoyed Ailment or are down for a sci-fi horror adventure, you can now pre-register to play Endurance over on the App Store and Google Play. It's currently expected to launch for iOS and Android on June 15th, so we'll soon find out whether or not it lives up to its popular predecessor. You'll find more info on Ivan's official site.
