Elebits 2 for DS looking increasingly likely
Elebits 2: Adventures of Kai & Zero appears on retail site
A couple of months back we were quite excited to see a listing for Elebits 2 on DS appear on US game rental and retail site Gamefly. But Konami has stayed tight-lipped on its existence since and the game wasn't mentioned at a recent worldwide press event in San Francisco held by the publisher.
However, Gamefly has now updated the game's listing on its site with a full title. Elebits 2 DS is now Elebits 2: Adventures of Kai & Zero with a release date of August 14th in the US.
Kai was the lead character in the original game. Zero, we think, is one of the sort of ultimate boss Elebits made up of pure energy. So does this mean you'll be able to play as an Elebit?
Anyway, a sequel to the original Elebits (known as Eledees in Europe) has been confirmed for Wii, the console on which the game first appeared on. It's just the DS version which remains shrouded in secrecy.
If it does appear, we're pretty sure the first-person 'capture gun' Elebit-sucking game would suit play with the DS stylus. Although all the object physics seen in the Wii game might need scaling back on for the handheld.
With any luck, we'll see just how it's all managed shortly. First thing's first, though: Konami needs to confirm the game is definitely coming and that this isn't just the fantasy of an over-zealous Elebits fan working for Gamefly (though that's not a bad story in itself). We'll keep you posted, obviously.
