Everyone seems to be talking about Draw Something at the moment, OMGPOP's Pictionary-meets-Words With Friends game in which you take it in turns (with friends or complete strangers) to draw an object, celebrity, etc., and guess the other person's effort.

Draw Something has become an overnight sensation, and it's not hard to see why. It's simple to use, addictive, and provides both mild amusement and a challenge, as you try to figure out whether your friend has just drawn a chicken on-screen or just a really misshapen Lady Gaga.

The New York-based company behind this new iOS gaming phenomenon isn't resting on its laurels, though. In fact, according to a source close to OMGPOP, it's eyeing up a TV show based on the game. Should this insider tip-off come to fruition, it would certainly be a demonstration of the scope of OMGPOP's ambition for its hit game.

This, of course, isn't the first time an iPhone developer has set its sights far beyond App Store riches and decided to expand its brand through merchandising and television tie-ins. Indeed, Angry Birds maker Rovio has already been there, done that, bought the T-shirt, and purchased the plush toy in this regard.

What IS remarkable about Draw Something's potential TV spin-off is that the game itself has only been on the market for a matter of weeks. The speed of its success, then, is almost unprecedented.

Who, what, where

As for when, on what network, and in what form this Draw Something television show would surface, OMGPOP's chief executive Dan Porter wouldn't be - ahem - drawn on the speculation.

If you're not familiar with Draw Something - which you can download from the App Store now for 69p / 99c - check out the short video below for a rough idea of what all the hype is about.

And if you'd like to read about how Dan Porter's "outsider" game design style helped boost Draw Something to 25 million downloads, take a look at PocketGamer.biz's interview with OMGPOP's head honcho here.
