Dragon Quest IV DS sells a million

The Square Enix RPG sets Japanese charts ablaze

Dragon Quest IV DS sells a million

Sales of Dragon Quest IV have just rushed past the one million mark, according to publisher Square Enix.

The game was released in Japan three weeks ago where it immediately topped the charts with 597,000 units sold in its first seven-day period. For a re-release of a NES and PlayStation game (rather than a new instalment in the popular RPG series), that's pretty impressive.

Indeed, its initial week's sales also beat Square's own Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (released a couple of weeks prior), although only by 3,000 copies.

There's no planned release date for Dragon Quest IV here, although we'll have a review of the Japanese version for you soon. As we reported recently, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, however, is coming to the UK and is scheduled to be out early in 2008.
