Keen readers might remember a story we published back in September about Konami's Contra 4 mobile game, and the publisher's decision to run a competition inviting players to design a character who'd then appear in the game itself.

Well, the final game has just been unveiled, complete with the character in question. He's called Solomon Caesar, and he appears alongside established Contra star Bill Rizer. Meanwhile, the game also has new weapons and "more persistent" enemies.

The game is out now in the US, although no European release date has been confirmed – over here, Konami works with Glu to publish mobile games, so presumably it'll be releasing it if Contra 4 did come out on this side of the Atlantic.

Konami isn't the only publisher looking at user-generated content as a source for mobile game characters: Vivendi Games Mobile ran its own contest recently for a mobile gamer to appear in Crash of the Titans.
