It's raining Catz, Dogz and Petz on mobile
Quick, get a lifeguard: Gameloft is heavy petting...
On the face of it, a virtual cat game isn't a great idea. While dogs can be trained, cats just alternate between sleeping, licking their bums, miaowing for food, and turning up at 3am with a dead starling in their jaws. It doesn't sound like great game material.
Gameloft would disagree. The company has announced plans to release Catz next month, where you get to raise two kittens. It's based on Ubisoft's Nintendo DS franchise of the same name.
But wait, there's more furry fun where that came from. Gameloft has also announced it will offer up Petz in July, which will feature a dozen different animals, 'from the most popular to the most exotic'.
The publisher hasn't said which ones though, which at least lets us start a rumour: we've heard the game features monkeys, goats, ferrets, llamas, white tigers, gnus, pot-bellied pigs, snakes, three-toed sloths, hippos, stingrays and Animal Out Of The Muppets. Pass it on.
Finally, Gameloft's existing mobile pet game, Dogz, is getting an all-new 3D version: Dogz 3D. It's out in April.
