Castle of Magic coming to DSiWare
Nintendo is rallying with its download service
What a day. Nintendo revealed its holiday release schedule this morning, and the signs are that it’s set to take on Sony as a purveyor of games that first found success on Apple’s iPhone, including Flight Control, Fieldrunners, and now this.
Castle of Magic, which is by Gameloft and first appeared on mobile, is amongst the titles announced today. It’s a side-scrolling platformer in which you play the part of a boy whose sister is kidnapped by an evil wizard.
When our own Jon Mundy wrote a feature called ‘20 PSP Minis games we want to play’ recently, Castle of Magic was at the top of the list, and the reason for its inclusion holds true for DSi. Consoles with buttons are infinitely better suited to platform games than the iPhone’s touchscreen.
Mario could have some competition when the game hits DSiWare this October.
