Carcassonne, the renowned iPhone port of the popular German boardgame, is set to double its price tomorrow, as developer The Coding Monkeys submits the game’s biggest update yet.

As its previously announced before the game launched, the iPhone and iPod touch board game will be turned into a universal app, meaning it’ll run on both the pocket sized iPhone and the tablet shaped iPad with graphics and screen layouts specific to each device.

In turn, the game will get an iPad-style price hike too, bouncing from £2.99 / $4.99 / €3.99 to £5.99 / $9.99 / €7.99. If you’re still on the fence about buying it, now would be a very good time to make your mind up.

The game’s all about strategically placing ‘meeple’ pieces on a countryside boardgame, to erect massive castles and take over huge swathes of medieval grass to gain a regal monopoly over your pals. You can play singleplayer, go toe-to-toe in local matches, or play asynchronous multiplayer games online.

Judging by Apple’s acceptance times, the update will likely hit within the next two weeks. The price jump, however, will go into effect from tomorrow.
